Over a decade ago we decided there was a clear need for a large-scale exterior sconce that would graze the building surface - Why?
Architects put a great deal of work into choosing the building surface material. Sometimes it is concrete, brick or stucco. Other times it may be a smooth white gesso. They may even choose sheets of rusty iron. Reality is the material selection that is critical for a building’s success.
All exterior sconces provide light. Very few graze the building surface highlighting the material selected by the architect.
Enter Tess
We were sitting in a meeting with the designer of Tex and asked: Can we curve Tex, soften it a bit?
Most buildings are sharp and angular, a fixture with more curves would work better in these cases.
Enter Tess-Slotted
Our customers repeatedly asked: Can I get some light out of the front of Tess?
We got the question everyday. We had to listen to our customers.
Hence, we added a slot to Tess. It was clear that Tess and Tess Slotted were iconic designs. We had numerous specifiers making these products their ‘standard’.
Tessie/Tessie Slotted
Our loyal customer base often came to us and asked: Can I get a narrower version of Tess? They told us that the fixture often needs to be mounted on columns that may only be 12” in width. While Tess is 12” in width we totally understand that a narrower version has merit.
Tessie and Tessie Slotted are a slim 7” in width. Clearly, we took this iconic design to a new level.
